The Garden Isle

Kauai is my favorite Hawaiian Island.  We were engaged there and we spent over a week on the island as part of our honeymoon, so it holds a special place in my heart.

We like to stay at the Hyatt in Poipu when we visit.  Here we have a photo of Shipwreck Beach that runs in front of the hotel.

We were supposed to have flown home from Kauai on September 11th, 2001, but our stay was unfortunately extended.  It did, however, give us time to explore the island further and discover treasures that we hadn't previously.  One of these treasures was Polihale Beach.  You may recognize it as the beach that I've used in the top frame of this site.

It was the most pristine, beautiful beach I've seen in a long time.  Very wide and virtually deserted.  I think there was only one other group of 4 or 5 people there.  Just gorgeous!
